Bertranges National forest

The Bertranges forest (3km) is one of the biggest forest massifs in France: it is the second producer oak forest after Tronçais.
Nièvre, with a hectare of forest per capita, is the leading producer of oak France, the most beautiful specimens come from the great forest Bertranges.
This wooded together now totals nearly 10,000 hectares (100 km2) planted mainly oaks.
Populated many deer and crossed by paths of large and small hiking, Bertranges offer walkers many shady circuits which are practiced on foot, bicycle or horseback. Autumn is still the favorite season for the discovery of the environment: mushroom picking, slab of the stag ...
The Bertranges forest is located 6 km from Charité sur Loire and is bordered in the direction of clockwise, starting with the western point, by the municipalities of Raveau, Narcy Varennes, Narcy, Saint Aubin Forges, Poiseux, Guérigny, Urzy, Parigny les Vaux, Chaulgnes and Champvoux.
